What did this man do to deserve this humiliation and cruelty?

When are we  ever going to be civilised as Africans?

Though the American election is over and there’s a new President on the horizon, their institutions have gone in high gear and overdrive in retrospectively investigating the ‘investigators’ on their role in the US electoral process.

An independent Judicial watchdog which is a Government institution is investigating the FBI and the Justice department on the suspected illegal role they may have played on the loss of Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump.

Here we have a man who is being kept away from his beloved family and incarcerated in a filthy jail for months on end on matters that deep down their hearts his accusers know are simply political and not criminal and everyone is quite?

In our African minds he’s being “sorted out” and we gleefully are look away and endorse such primitive disregard for the consitution, civil liberty , human rights and institutional fairness for individuals.

Is the weight of the State being used fairly under the guise of ‘law and order’ on citizens who can’t defend themselves due to the vastness and greatness of  State machinery?

Surely Kambwili’s case must demonstrate to those that are abusing institutional power, that this thing turns round and will snap back at those that nursed, nurtured and abused it against hapless citizens?

Mwaliteta and his colleagues are unfairly  behind bars. They deserve better. What has happened to the concience of this country? Where are the  moralists, the Church and civil society organisations? Allowing this sort of trampling on people’s rights by this government dimishes us as a people.

It s unfortunate that the people who call others tribalist, are hypocrites. They themselves are real tribalist.

Unlike Chiefs from other regions, the Eastern Chiefs have responded to this nonsense in very clear terms. One would have hoped other Chiefs would have also reprimanded their subjects when they spewed nonsense and all the mess we are in now would have been avoided. But do not add your stuff ba Watchdog – did Senior Chief Nzamane refer to the President in his reprimand of Edwin Sakala?
