Easterners using Bembas in the HH hate campaign: Pamela Chisanga

Civil society leader Pamela Chisanga says Zambia is already under the leadership of a dictator contrary to what people are saying that it is sliding to dictatorship.

Ms Chisanga says the moment President Edgar Lungu put his main challenger Hakainde Hichilema of the biggest opposition UPND under solitary confinement that was the beggining of dictatorship.

She stated this in her Facebook account following the transferring of Hichilema and his co-accused on the treason case from Chimbokaila prison to Mukobeko Maximum Security prison on Friday:

Today, I spoke to 2 comrades in the PF who are so disturbed by all this persecution of HH. What shocked me is to hear them say they are living in fear, that Zambia is not safe anymore.

Their sense of helplessness drained me so much that I am sat in bed at this time, too numb to get up or to think about the things I need to do today. When you hear an opposition leader detained in solitary confinement, then you know your country is not becoming a dictatorship, IT IS already one. We crossed that line the day police officers went with masks, teargas and pepper spray to arrest a man they could have easily summoned to the police station. We crossed that line when law enforcement officers shamelessly perjured themselves in court. The icing on the cake is when a system allows sentiments of the likes of Edwin Sakala to sow a bitter root of tribal and ethnic hatred in our land and no one does anything apart from hollow pronouncements from the police spokesperson.

Suddenly, the masked men are too busy, teargas and pepper spray have either run out or being preserved for the unfortunate few. Yesterday, in a conversation with a friend, I said something that I still can’t believe came out of my mouth and I am so terribly disappointed with myself, this perhaps explains the numbness in my head in this morning. I judged a whole people based on the actions of a few narcissistic, ruthless and greedy individuals.

This does not end here, in a conversation with a different colleague, they said to me how ashamed they were of being from our tribe. We are the ones fanning this anarchy in our land. We are lazy but greedy and so this is why we are the ones speaking loudly because our hunger just doesn’t affect our bellies, it affects our brains too. He pointed to names on social media, the majority of nasty comments condemning HH are from our tribe.

The people from the East are quietly watching the drama and when all this is over, in their humble and jovial manner, they will shake the hands of the Southerners and say we did not do anything, it was the Northerners who persecuted you, we never asked them to, we never joined them. These conversations in less than 24hrs have made me realize just how deep this tribal rigmarole has played out.

The question that I have not been able to answer is: who stands to benefit from all this? Are we that hungry, that greedy, that docile that we allow things to come to this? I ask myself, do we have leaders with integrity who will be bold enough to stand up and say this is enough? Are the leaders we have the creme de la creme of our land?

Steven Piyo also writes:

The PF seem to be using individuals mainly from the Northern part of Zambia to attack Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND especially during this period of incarceration.

You will note that Emmanuel Mwamba, Mumbi Phiri, Amos Chanda, Sunday Chanda, Kelvin Sampa, Fr Frank Bwalya and KBF all hail from  the Northern part of Zambia and are the front runners in this vicious fight against HH.

Chishimba Kambwili has since retired and is sleeping in his bed of roses with a severe back ache. Chilufya Tayali is also now on the bench with severe hamstring injury.

Is there a message behind this set up? In their continued crusade to divide Zambians along ethnic lines, are PF saying Northerners have an inherent gene of hate against Southerners and is  the Party promoting and exploiting this trait to further their agenda of ethnicity?
