Dictator Edgar Lungu on Saturday told his ministers that they will also not be spared jail for stealing from the Zambian people.
A tired looking Lungu told his ministers during the special Cabinet meeting to approve the budget that there were ministers handling over huge dossiers of government corruption to the UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and other opposition leaders.
“But I want to warn you that you will also be arrested. I won’t accept to go alone. We are stealing together but some of you have now ganged up with some civil servants and giving out documents of stealing to my main opponent Mr. Hichilema,” an upset Lungu told his ministers.
Lungu has so far become the richest Zambian and one of the wealthiest Africans alive favourably competing with the likes of Aliko Dangote the Nigerian businessman who built an empire of a long period of time. Many say Lungu’s corruption matrix surpasses that of late President Fredrick Chiluba by possibly ten times.
During the same meeting, Finance Minister Felix Mutati told the meeting that there was no money to give civil servants any meaningful salary increments for the next three years. Mutati told the meeting that the highest government can manage is a meagre 7 percent or there about but that can only be done in 2018.
But Lungu told Mr. Mutati that he needed an allocation to the office of the President under State House to give a decent share to the union leaders in the country so that they don’t rise against his government.
And Home Affairs Minister Steven Kampyongo requested more allocation to his ministry as the Zambian people were slowly getting agitated and the police needed more funding to quell any riots in the country. Kampyongo told the meeting that the problem was that some senior PF officials were also inciting the population to rise against the PF Government across the country.
