Something Noble About HH – RPP Lukuku

James Kasanda Musendeka Lukuku
RPP President writes:

The HH I have come to know is totally different from the HH told on the streets.

Jesus was presented before the Jews for a decision about his crucifixion. A criminal named Barabbas was besides him.

On top of their voices, Jews voted for the freedom of Barabbas, and to have Jesus killed on the cross.

There is something noble about President HH. From the few moments I have sat with the man, I have learnt a million things, especially on the aspect of principledness.

I have come to understand that people without principles like GBM can’t work with President HH.

Straightforwardness is a virtue, and this virtue as far as I have discovered is the most descriptive definition of President HH.

President HH is straightforward and one needs to get to him with a straight face and a straight idea.

This quality and virtue from my understanding, only Mwanawasa had it. The cabbage we called on the streets has been the pillar stone of reference for excellent leadership.

I have arrived at a thinking that the same has been the mistake we have been making on our Barabbas choice against President HH, just like the Barabbas choice Jews made against Jesus Christ the saviour of the world.

There is something noble about President HH.

The time the PF UPND pact collapsed, the entire country laughed at President HH, and this laughter became even louder after the PF formed government. President HH was viewed as a loser in 2011, believing he had lost an opportunity to drive UPND into government.

Now when you introspect and contemplate, what could have remained of President HH had he agreed and joined the bandwagon of this world’s most corrupt Government. A government of thieves bamukukulu munshibila nsala? There could have been nothing left of President HH. All the people serving in PF strating from the level of Permanent Secretaries have their hands soiled in Corruption and state graft.

If President HH behaved at any moment like Morgan Tsvangirai by pushing for a GNU, there could have been no HH and UPND this time around.

Refusing to rush the UPND into government at the basis of compromise is a serious virtue on the part of President HH.

I was part of the RB team in 2014/2015 after the death of President Sata. After the supreme Court ruled in favour of Dr Never Mumba as a substantive candidate to contest on the MMD ticket, in the presidential “by” election of 2015, RB was left devastated. He went to South Africa and came back to our camp after some days. Dr Martine Mtonga, his right hand man told a story about RB’s encounter with President HH in South Africa. He told us that RB had decided to put his weight behind HH and actually called for a meeting with President HH in Joberg. The appointment was at 18hrs. HH pushed it to 19hrs. He later pushed it to 20hrs, to 21, to 22 until on that day it never happened. On the following day President HH met with RB and told him that there was no game. In frustration, RB turned to Supporting Edgar Lungu, who together with late Willie Nsanda met President RB at his residence, in New Kasama, there by the state lodge turn off.

It might look absurd why President HH refused to work with RB. But you can see that this was indeed a virtue. At the moment RB was desperate to have his children removed on the Interpol list of wanted criminals. RB was desperate too, to have his court cases dropped from Zambia’s courts of adjudication.

Other principleless people agree to the RB deal, they formed government dropped all his cases and dropped all charges against RB’s sons. Another demand RB had was to have his mmd vehicles back. And the principleless people have given him back his vehicles, 1000s of them.

It’s a virtue that President HH is not part of this web of crime and injustice.

Of course I can envy such a man and as RPP we are proud to be in a working alliance with such a man and his party.

Zambian youths have a lot to learn from President HH. There is no single picture that have ever circulated about HH in a Bar surrounded by bottles of liqour. We have hundreds of beer drinking pictures for the other gentleman.

Let us stop endorsing Barabbas at the expense of leadership that can change our lives and uplift our country.

Probably we are licking the wounds of our own shortsightedness.
