BAROTSELAND has rejected the amendment Bill Number 10 in its totallity.

The Bill seeks to amend the Zambian constitution.

The conference, held in Mongu, that included the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE), the church, civil society organisations, senior citizens and youths resolved to reject the entire Bill in its totally.

The Barotse people have described the Bill as a mockery and an attempt by the patriotic front to continue abusing using the law with impunity. In their resoltions, the delegates to the conference said it would be naive for them to even isolate a single clause in the Bill that was well meant. They said the Bill was ill conceived from inception as it was meant to serve the politicians’ interest. The conference that was held at Royal Dream alsi tasked the BRE to convene meeting where every resident could categorically present his/her positions.

The delegated also resolved that issue of Barotseland recognition should instead be set as a priority as it has been pending since 1969.

It s unfortunate that the people who call others tribalist, are hypocrites. They themselves are real tribalist.

Unlike Chiefs from other regions, the Eastern Chiefs have responded to this nonsense in very clear terms. One would have hoped other Chiefs would have also reprimanded their subjects when they spewed nonsense and all the mess we are in now would have been avoided. But do not add your stuff ba Watchdog – did Senior Chief Nzamane refer to the President in his reprimand of Edwin Sakala?
