Tanzania Zambia Mafuta {TAZAMA) Pipe Line Ltd is a dual owned company between Zambia and Tanzania in agreed PROPORTIONS. Its main purpose is to pump crude oil from Daresalaam to Ndola where oats refined in petroleum products.

However, what is reported below has nothing to do with oil pumping but corruption by Davidson Tawete who happens to be the MD for Tazama.

The MD for Tazama pipeline Davidson Tawete has been involved in smuggling personal solar equipment purporting that such equipment is for the Tazama pipeline company when infact not. All these imports are for personal benefit.

The equipment that is being imported is not even for Tazama. The latest scandal and exposure point was when he imported solar equipment for former Permanent Secretary Kaunda in exchange of favors.

In the process the security police caught up with him and his driver. Sadly a poor innocent Tanzanian driver was locked up as well during the investigations. The GRZ operatives caught Tawete’s driver for using ECL’s name in illegal imports.

How this driver for Davidson Tawete is still working as a driver at Tazama todate, indicates how Tawete has degraded morals and regulations in Tazama. Both him and his driver are criminals and must be relieved of their duties.

Davidson Tawete is a bootlicker and only beaten by Bowman Lusambo. He is abusing his office by executing shody deals for his superiors in exchange for his job. This dents the Zambian end in this dual owned company seriously. If Magufuli knew this, certainly heads would roll.

We also report that Tawete procured a double cabin Toyota landcruser as his personal to holder vehicle. But this car is basically parked away while he wears down and abuses the pool GX Landcruser vehicle for the company. This is to make sure that he purchases a brand new vehicle when the time for asset disposal comes.

This is defrauding the nation and cannot be allowed. Tazama pipeline is owned by both Tanzania and Zambia. While Zambia has a bigger shareholding portion, it does not mean Zambians in Tazama must be abusing their authority.

Davidson Tawete is a disgrace for Zambia and must be rebuked just like his bosses whom he bootlicks day and night. Just as well PS Kaunda was removed from Ministry of Energy, infact he should have been removed from this critical level of responsibility altogether.

We call on the senior officials in Tazama to apply pressure on Davidson Tawet to apply some hygiene in Tazama. What is not clear is whether the 2 directors representing Tanzania government in Tazama are aware of these scams.
